For the first time in 14 years, Ferrari is bringing back the manual driving experience. The Italian automaker has officially unveiled the 12Cilindri Manuale, a highly exclusive, driver-focused tribute to its legendary V12 heritage.
Limiting production to just 1,499 units worldwide, Ferrari has priced this special edition at 590,000 Euro (approximately Rs 6.42 crore). This marks the first time a manual-style setup has been offered by Maranello since the production of the California roadster ended.
The Tech: ‘Manuale By-Wire’
Rather than engineering an entirely old-school mechanical gearbox, Ferrari has introduced an innovative “Manuale By-Wire” system.
-
The Setup: The car retains the high-tech 8-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) from the standard 12Cilindri but replaces standard automatic operation with an electronic clutch pedal and a classic gated shifter.
-
The Experience: There is no physical clutch or flywheel connecting the engine to the transmission. Instead, advanced sensors track the driver’s inputs and command the DCT to mimic a traditional 6-speed manual.
-
Pure Engagement: Drivers can still stall the car, perform heel-and-toe downshifts, and “dump” the clutch, offering a genuinely mechanical feel with modern reliability. For traffic or casual cruising, the car can easily be switched back into full 8-speed automatic mode.
Performance and Specifications
Under the long hood sits Ferrari’s iconic 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, completely unchanged from the standard model.
| Metric | Specification |
| Power Output | 830 hp |
| Torque | 678 Nm |
| Engine Redline | 9,500 rpm |
| 0-100 kmph | 2.9 seconds |
| Top Speed | 340 kmph |
Note on Performance: The 2.9-second sprint to 100 kmph is identical to the standard automatic model. However, hitting this time requires utilizing the car’s full automatic mode, which engages launch control and all eight gears. The extra two gears also allow the Manuale to retain its 340 kmph top speed, which would otherwise be limited in the simulated 6-speed manual mode.
Subtle Exterior Enhancements
While it retains the aggressive stance of the standard 12Cilindri—including the active winglets, quad exhausts, and a delta-wing roof motif—the Manuale features exclusive styling cues:
-
Distinct Badging: “Manuale” badges on the front fenders and silver-finished, laser-etched Ferrari side logos.
-
Classic Tribute: A pinstripe design on the front splitter and rear winglets that pays homage to the legendary 365 GTB4.
-
Custom Wheels: Exclusive forged 5-spoke alloy wheels available in four distinct finishes.
-
Optional Livery: A specialized heritage livery celebrating the 6-speed configuration is available in various color schemes.
A Nod to the Past Inside the Cabin
The interior seamlessly blends cutting-edge digital tech with analog nostalgia. The central console has been completely redesigned to host a beautifully rounded, aluminium manual gear lever set in a classic gated plate, available in either silver or black.
The standard model’s triple-screen dashboard layout remains intact, but the seats—available in comfort or racing configurations—now feature a unique trim with six vertical grooves, subtly celebrating the car’s six-speed manual identity.
