Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the updated three-door off-roader, officially named the Mahindra Thar OG, with introductory prices starting at Rs 10.32 lakh and going up to Rs 17.75 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries are set to begin on October 11, 2026.
While it retains the iconic silhouette of its predecessor, the Thar OG marks one of the most comprehensive updates since the current-generation model debuted in 2020, featuring sweeping changes to its platform, suspension, and underpinnings.

New M_Glyde 4G Platform: The SUV transitions to the new M_Glyde 4G architecture (previously seen on the Thar Roxx), offering higher structural stiffness for better on-road and off-road dynamics.

Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD): Utilizing DAVINCI damping tech from the XUV 7XO, the mechanical system automatically adapts its characteristics based on road conditions without relying on electronic sensors.

Upgraded Powertrains: The larger engines are now more powerful. The 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol churns out 160 bhp and 330 Nm, while the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel delivers 150 bhp and 330 Nm. The entry-level 1.5-litre diesel remains at 116 bhp and 300 Nm.

Electric Power Steering: Replacing the traditional hydraulic setup, the Thar OG introduces an electric power steering system designed to reduce steering effort at low speeds.

Electronic Locking Differential: The off-road hardware gets an upgrade with an electronically assisted locking differential, replacing the older mechanical unit. It also features dedicated Snow, Sand, and Mud terrain modes alongside Zip and Zoom drive modes.

Enhanced Safety Package: Six airbags (for both front and rear occupants) and four-wheel disc brakes are now standard across the entire variant lineup. Higher ZXT trims add a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a rear-view camera.

Larger 19-Inch Wheels: Built with a wider track and revised bumpers, higher-spec variants now ride on 19-inch alloy wheels—the largest ever fitted to a factory Thar.
