Tesla has officially extended its reach into India’s tech hub, opening a new experience center in Whitefield, Bengaluru, on May 14, 2026. Following successful launches in Mumbai and Delhi, this new facility showcases Tesla’s commitment to the Indian EV market by offering both vehicle showcases and dedicated after-sales service.
The center features the popular Model Y and the newly introduced Model Y L, a specialized six-seater SUV tailored for larger families.
Focus on the Model Y L: The Family Electric SUV
The standout of the Bengaluru launch is the Model Y L, which positions itself as a high-utility family vehicle with impressive specs:
-
Range: Up to 681 km (WLTP) on a single charge.
-
Performance: 0-100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds.
-
Capacity: Three-row seating with up to 2,539 L of cargo space.
-
Safety: Boasts a 5-star ANCAP rating, following Tesla’s global reputation for high safety standards.
Notably, despite being larger and heavier due to its all-wheel-drive system, the Model Y L is engineered for extreme efficiency. It provides 20 km more range than the standard Model Y Long Range from the same 83 kWh battery pack.
Charging and Efficiency Comparison
| Feature | Model Y Long Range | Model Y L (Six-Seater) |
| Battery Size | 83 kWh | 83 kWh |
| Max Charging Speed | 250 kW | 250 kW |

Tesla has positioned its lineup to compete in the premium EV segment:
-
Model Y (Standard): ₹59.89 Lakh

Model Y L (Six-Seater): ₹61.99 Lakh
-
Model Y Long Range: ₹67.89 Lakh
Seamless Ownership Experience
Beyond the showroom, Tesla is rolling out comprehensive support for Bengaluru owners:
-
After-Sales Service: On-site maintenance and repairs in Whitefield.
-
Charging Ecosystem: Access to Tesla’s “Plug In, Charge and Go” Supercharger network and dedicated home charging support.
-
Tech Integration: Advanced software features and over-the-air (OTA) updates standard across all models.
With wholesale inflation currently surging due to the West Asia energy crisis, Tesla’s expansion comes at a time when Indian consumers are increasingly looking toward electric mobility to mitigate rising traditional fuel costs.
