Urban Flooding in Kamrup Metro
In Kamrup (Metro), urban flooding has hit three Revenue Circles and multiple urban localities, including Padumbari, Boragaon, Excelcare Hospital, Lachit Nagar, Zoo Road, Rukminigaon, Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Satgaon, Beharbari, Hatigaon, Wireless, Jorabat, and Kamarkuchi near Zubeen Khetra. Official reports indicate no stranded populations affected directly by the urban waterlogging in this district.
Government Relief and Assistance Operations
In response to the crisis, Assam ministers flagged off a convoy of 30 trucks carrying essential relief supplies, including food, clothing, and other necessities, to the worst-hit regions. The convoy was escorted by Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) lawmakers, senior party officials, and Assam Police personnel.
Speaking on the relief operations, Assam Minister Atul Bora highlighted the government’s response efforts:
“The government, led by Himanta Biswa Sarma, has implemented effective measures, including a ₹15,000 assistance package per family… The government is providing food materials, and additional supplies such as clothing and other necessities are being distributed. Approximately 30 vehicles loaded with relief materials are currently stationed, with efforts ongoing to support the affected population.”
