A devastating early-morning crash led to a fatal fire on a major transit corridor in southern Vietnam on Tuesday, leaving at least seven passengers dead and five others seriously injured.
The disaster occurred along National Highway 1 as a 24-seat sleeper bus was en route from the central highlands region of Lam Dong province to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s primary economic center. According to preliminary reports, the vehicle veered off course and collided heavily with a roadside slope in Đồng Nai. The impact immediately triggered an aggressive fire that rapidly engulfed the entire cabin.
Because the flames spread so swiftly throughout the interior, many passengers inside were instantly trapped before they could reach emergency exits.
Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation
Local emergency services and firefighting units rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze and extricate victims from the charred wreckage. The five surviving passengers who sustained injuries were transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security confirmed the casualties and announced that law enforcement agencies have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the precise cause of the collision and the subsequent fire.
