In an extraordinary turn of events, a rare albino buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” has been granted a last-minute reprieve from ritual slaughter for Eid al-Adha. The 700-kilogram (1,543 lb) animal, which became an internet sensation over its uncanny resemblance to the US President’s signature hairstyle, was officially spared following a direct government intervention.
Citing public safety and an unmanageable wave of public interest, Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed ordered that the ritual sacrifice be halted, the buyer fully refunded, and the animal permanently preserved.

Why the Government Stepped In
While millions of livestock are processed during the peak Eid season, the “Trump” buffalo’s skyrocketing digital fame altered its fate. After videos flooded TikTok, Facebook, and local television channels, thousands of visitors from distant districts like Cumilla and Barishal began flocking to the farm, causing significant logistical bottlenecks.
“At the last moment, the decision was taken to spare the buffalo from sacrifice due to security concerns and the unusual level of public interest. The massive crowds gathering to catch a glimpse of the animal posed a real threat of public disorder and chaos.”

What’s Next for “Donald Trump”?
Following the Home Minister’s order, police and local livestock officials successfully retrieved the animal from its buyer in Keraniganj.
According to Dhaka Zoo Curator Atiqur Rahman, a dedicated enclosure and a personal caregiver have already been assigned to the buffalo. It will remain in a mandatory two-week medical quarantine to ensure its health before being formally unveiled to the public as one of the zoo’s most anticipated, permanent residents.
