Actor Rashmika Mandanna has pushed past her limits, wrapping up an intense, milestone underwater action sequence for her upcoming film Mysaa. Touted by the makers as India’s first female-led underwater fight scene, the sequence features Mandanna performing all her own stunts without the aid of a body double.
The grueling shoot required the actor to spend nearly 20 hours submerged across a two-day period. The production house, Unformula Films, shared a glimpse of the high-stakes scene alongside behind-the-scenes photographs on social media, teasing fans with the tagline: “The Surface Was Never the Limit. Beneath the depths lies a battle unlike anything Indian cinema has seen.”
Mandanna echoed the intensity of the shoot on her Instagram Stories, labeling it the hardest hurdle of her professional journey. “I know I’ve been MIA but this is what we’ve been doing,” she shared. “This is by far the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in life! We are crazy for this but that’s what’s gotten me so so excited!”
Directed by Rawindra Pulle, Mysaa is billed as an emotional action thriller grounded in tribal lands. The project marks Mandanna’s debut leading a solo, pan-India action film. Mysaa is slated for a theatrical release later this year.
