The controversy surrounding Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa Season 2 has reached a boiling point. Viewers have taken to social media to heavily criticize the show’s hosts and producers for allegedly ignoring personal and “below-the-belt” remarks made by wildcard entrant Shilpa Shinde and YouTuber Shreya Kalra toward television star Shivangi Joshi.
The primary spark for the backlash was a widely circulated clip where Shilpa, in conversation with Shreya, mocked Shivangi’s persona. While mimicking her, Shilpa remarked, “I am very innocent. I don’t know anything. I am a virgin. I will not even do it after my wedding,” sparking immediate outrage online for being crude and invasive. Fans also pointed to other segments where Shilpa made remarks targeting Shivangi’s character, claiming she had multiple affairs with her television co-stars.
The Allegations of Host Bias
As the episodes continued to stream on Netflix without immediate intervention from the hosts, viewers began questioning the integrity of the show. Critics pointed out a double standard: when other contestants like Akanksha Chaudhary made errors, they were immediately called out, yet Shilpa’s personal attacks went unchecked.
A viral post on X (formerly Twitter) tagged the makers and hosts, asking:
“Are y’all’s 84 cameras not working anymore that you guys cannot see the disgusting shitty comments passed by Shreya and Shilpa to Shivangi!? They are continuously going way below the belt talking about a girl’s character… and y’all aren’t even calling them out on it!?”
Farah Khan Shuts Down the Critics
Faced with mounting criticism, filmmaker-choreographer and host Farah Khan stepped in to address the narrative directly. Leaving a direct comment on social media, she wrote:
“Please watch judgement day, then write angry letters.”
She followed up by clarifying, “I don’t ignore such issues,” hinting that the controversy will be tackled head-on during the upcoming Judgement Day episode.
In past interviews, Farah has maintained that her personal relationships or favoritism do not dictate how she hosts the show. “When Riteish and I are standing there, it has to be about the show. Whoever deserves an earful has to get an earful,” she previously shared.
With the tension inside the jail-themed set at an all-time high—especially following a separate incident where a tearful Shivangi broke down after being ordered by Shilpa to stay away from her close friend Harshad Chopda—the upcoming Judgement Day episode is expected to be one of the most explosive of the season.
