Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has issued a strict appeal to Amarnath Yatra devotees, emphasizing that only pilgrims with a valid registration permit for their designated dates will be allowed to proceed to the holy cave shrine.
The directive follows a high-level review meeting chaired by the Lieutenant Governor on Saturday to assess the logistical, security, and administrative management of the ongoing annual pilgrimage.
Unregistered Crowds Causing Delays
During the meeting, officials highlighted a surge in the number of pilgrims arriving in Jammu and Kashmir without prior registration. This influx has triggered:
-
Longer Wait Times: Unregistered crowds are causing significant logistical bottlenecks.
-
Inconvenience: Registered devotees are facing unexpected delays and disruptions to their schedules.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha reminded travelers that the pilgrimage operates strictly under a daily movement ceiling mandated by the Supreme Court. Adhering to this scheduled registration is critical for crowd control, safety, and the overall security of the devotees.
Key Directives issued by the Administration
-
Deference of Travel: Intending pilgrims who do not yet hold a valid registration permit are urged to delay their travel plans for the next few days to avoid being stranded or turned back.
-
Unified Coordination: Sinha called for seamless collaboration between the civil administration, police, intelligence agencies, security forces, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, langar (community kitchen) organizations, and NGOs.
-
Real-Time Monitoring: Departments have been instructed to continuously monitor ground arrangements to address emerging bottlenecks immediately.
Official Stance: The administration reiterated that the strict enforcement of registration checks is entirely aimed at regulating the daily flow of people, ensuring an orderly, secure, and spiritually fulfilling experience for all.
High-Level Attendees
The review meeting saw the participation of top administrative and security leadership, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, and Mandeep K. Bhandari, CEO of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
