The quintessential Bollywood mother is officially getting a dark, chaotic makeover. Netflix just dropped the trailer for Maa Behen, an upcoming dark comedy that pairs the legendary Madhuri Dixit with Triptii Dimri for a rollercoaster ride fueled by family bickering and accidental crime.
The Plot: From Flirting to Felony
Madhuri Dixit stars as Rekha, an eccentric woman who lost her husband to a freak electrocution accident at the age of 25 and has lived a fiercely independent life since. Her two daughters, Jaya and Sushma, share a textbook love-hate relationship with her, constantly navigating her dramatic miseries.
The household’s predictable daily bickering takes a sharp turn into disaster when Pandit ji (played by Ravi Mohan) arrives and tries to flirt with Rekha. Shortly after, things go horribly wrong:
The Twist: Pandit ji’s dead body suddenly turns up right inside Rekha’s house.
What follows is an absolute whirlwind of panic, frantic cover-ups, explosive emotional meltdowns, and incredibly questionable choices as the mother-daughter trio tries to handle the corpse without getting caught.
Behind the Scenes & Cast
Directed by Suresh Triveni—the filmmaker behind critically acclaimed slice-of-life and tension-heavy projects like Tumhari Sulu and Jalsa—the movie leans into a fast-paced, high-stakes comedy style.
