Leaked design patents for the Zero Lompico electric motorcycle have surfaced online, giving us our first look at the production-spec model. Developed under the strategic Vida x Zero alliance, the Lompico from California-based Zero Motorcycles heavily shares its DNA with Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming Vida VxZ.
While they are mechanical twins underneath, the two brands have taken entirely different paths when it comes to styling.
Mechanical Underpinnings: What’s Shared?
The leaked patent drawings confirm that the Zero Lompico and the Hero Vida VxZ are built on the same core platform. Their shared architecture includes:
-
Chassis: A robust trellis frame.
-
Suspension: Front USD (Upside-Down) telescopic forks and a rear monoshock setup.
-
Hardware: Identical wheels, braking systems, and a sculpted swingarm.
-
Cockpit & Accents: A shared TFT instrument console, street-style handlebars, and a swingarm-mounted rear license plate holder.
Performance & Powertrain
Zero Motorcycles has confirmed the powertrain specifications for the Lompico, which are also expected to mirror those of the Hero Vida VxZ:
| Specification | Details |
| Battery Pack | 8.8 kWh |
| Motor Type | Mid-mounted electric motor |
| Peak Power | ~40 bhp |
One Platform, Two Distinct Personalities
While the hardware is identical, the visual execution separates the two bikes completely:
-
Hero Vida VxZ: Embraces a subtle, sporty, and contemporary streetfighter aesthetic tailored for global appeal.
-
Zero Lompico: Opts for a bold, retro-futuristic theme. It features a wide LED DRL strip wrapped around a central headlight, a blocky, high-mounted TFT display, and a single-piece sculpted faux fuel tank and side panel assembly that gives it a radical, concept-bike look.
The Global Strategy
These leaked patents reinforce the strength of the partnership that began back in 2023 when Hero MotoCorp injected approximately USD 60 million into Zero Motorcycles.
Industry indications suggest that the Zero Lompico will likely be manufactured in India by Hero MotoCorp and exported to the United States and other international markets. This dual-model approach marks a massive leap for Hero’s premium EV wing, Vida, as it expands from urban electric scooters into high-performance electric motorcycles.
