The Bombay High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register an FIR and conduct a thorough investigation into the 2020 death of Disha Salian, the former celebrity manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Disha Salian was found dead on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area—just days before Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra flat. At the time, the Mumbai Police had only registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR).

Petition by Father: The directive came on a petition filed by Satish Salian, Disha’s father, who alleged serious lapses and a failure to register an FIR by the Mumbai Police over the last five years.

Judicial Directives: A bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale instructed the CBI to record Satish Salian’s statement, appoint a senior officer to lead the probe, and direct the Malvani Police Station to hand over all case files and records immediately.

No Premature Accusations: The court emphasized that no individual should be treated as an accused unless the investigating officer uncovers sufficient material evidence. If the CBI concludes that no foul play is involved, it must file a summary report, giving the family the liberty to challenge it through a protest petition.
