Dramatic new footage has surfaced of the moments leading up to the security breach at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. A 24-second clip, shared by President Donald Trump on Truth Social, captures the suspect—identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen—charging toward a security checkpoint before being neutralized by the Secret Service.
The Breach Attempt
The video highlights the rapid response of federal agents as the suspect approached the Washington Hilton venue. In the footage:
-
The suspect is seen running toward the screening area.
-
Secret Service agents immediately take tactical positions with weapons drawn.
-
The suspect is swarmed and pinned to the ground near a stairwell.
President Trump later shared images of a shirtless Allen in custody, describing him as a “lone wolf” and a “whack job.”
Arsenal and Confrontation
While the President initially mistook the gunfire for a “tray being dropped,” First Lady Melania Trump reportedly recognized the danger immediately, telling the President, “That’s a bad noise.”
Senior police officials have since revealed the extent of the threat. The suspect was heavily armed with:
-
A shotgun (used to fire at an officer at close range).
-
A handgun.
-
Multiple knives.
“He was shot from very close distance with a very powerful gun, and the vest did the job,” Trump noted, referring to the Secret Service officer who survived the hit.
Safety of the Ballroom
Despite the chaos, the President clarified that the suspect never came close to the main ballroom where thousands of guests, including Vice President JD Vance, were gathered. The breach was contained entirely at the outer security perimeter.
Authorities stated that there is currently no evidence linking the attack to international conflicts, such as the ongoing situation in Iran. The investigation is now focused on Allen’s background in Torrance, California, to determine a motive for the attempted assault.
