An investigative review of more than 1,000 corporate documents by The Telegraph has exposed the stark reality of the Florida Science Foundation. While presented to courts as a legitimate hub for scientific research, the organization was a front designed to exploit a highly controversial “sweetheart” work-release program during Jeffrey Epstein’s 2008 prison sentence.
Prominent victims’ attorney Gloria Allred summarized the findings bluntly:
“His ‘office’ appears now not to have been a real business office for a Florida Science Foundation, but instead was what I will call ‘a play house for a predator’, where a number of women were brought and then sexually abused.”
The Illusion of Work Release
On June 30, 2008, Epstein began an 18-month sentence after pleading guilty to state charges of soliciting prostitution and procuring a minor. Rather than being confined to the Palm Beach County Stockade, his legal team secured approval for daily work release starting in October 2008.
Epstein claimed he needed to manage the Florida Science Foundation, which he told officials had been operating for 15 years to support physics and scientific initiatives.
However, public records painted a drastically different picture:
-
The Reality: The foundation was registered in November 2007—just months before his incarceration—by his lead defense attorney, Jack Goldberger.
-
The Setup: Epstein’s team rented Suite 1404 at 250 South Australian Avenue, a 3,881-square-foot luxury glass office overlooking a lake, costing $5,549 a month.
Inside Suite 1404: Luxury, High-Profile Guests, and Abuse
Documents and victim testimonies reveal that the office generated zero scientific output, save for a lone $10,000 student gadget competition donation. Instead, it functioned as a private sanctuary where Epstein maintained his lifestyle, powerful network, and abusive behavior.
Ongoing Exploitation
Victims who testified before Congress or spoke to the FBI described the space as a cover for continued sexual abuse. One victim, Roza—who was brought from Uzbekistan under the false promise of a modeling career—testified that she was forced to work at the office and was abused there during his sentence.
FBI files from 2019 note that while a monitoring sheriff’s deputy sat at the suite’s front entrance, Epstein would have young women massage him in a back room containing a futon while he watched television.
Preserved Connections & High-Profile Circles
Logs show that Epstein seamlessly ran his social and professional networks from the office.
-
Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, visited the office twice in 2009.
-
Lord Mandelson, then the UK Business Secretary, held multiple discussions with Epstein over Skype from the facility.
-
In April 2009, Epstein asked a contact to curate a list of “smart, out-of-the-box types” for a Florida gathering; the returned list of 33 names included Elon Musk.
Timeline of the Foundation’s Sham Lifecycle
The timeline below illustrates how the corporate entity was built solely to span the exact duration of Epstein’s detention and house arrest guidelines.
Entity Created
The choice of the office location carried a darker, more logistical consequence for Epstein’s victims. The glass building at 250 South Australian Avenue also housed a court-related service facility.
Legal records reveal that some of Epstein’s accusers were ordered to the very same building for official depositions and medical examinations. This resulted in terrifying, unannounced encounters. In November 2009, a victim identified as Jane Doe No. 3 ran directly into Epstein in the hallway. Her attorney recorded that Epstein made intense eye contact in an open attempt to intimidate her, leaving the client crying hysterically and violating multiple court boundaries.
