A horrific crime in Assam’s Hailakandi district has sparked massive public outrage after a 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and brutally murdered inside her home on Saturday night.
The incident, which took place in the Aloichora area under the jurisdiction of the Katlichera police station, has led to intense local protests, including the blockade of a national highway by angry residents demanding swift justice and the immediate arrest of the culprits.
Details of the Incident
According to local sources and police reports, the minor had accompanied her family to a nearby relative’s home to attend a feast on Saturday evening. However, following a minor argument with a cousin, she returned home alone around 11:00 PM.
When her family returned later that night, they discovered her body on the floor. Police sources reported that the victim had suffered extreme physical violence—her head and face were severely disfigured, and a metal rod had reportedly been inserted into her body.
Police Action and Investigation
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amitabh Sinha confirmed that a formal case has been registered and a thorough investigation is underway.
Five individuals have been detained for questioning as law enforcement agencies work to establish the sequence of events and identify the perpetrators.
