Audi has officially pulled the wraps off its new-generation A6 Allroad, reaffirming its commitment to the premium, rugged adventure estate wagon segment. Based on the recently updated A6 Avant platform, the new Allroad targets buyers who want SUV-like capability and ground clearance without sacrificing the sleek handling dynamics and low roofline of a premium wagon.
1. Stance and Off-Road Hardware
The “Allroad” moniker is backed up by significant physical upgrades over the standard luxury estate:
-
The Widebody Look: Audi has flared the wheel arches and widened the tracks, giving the car a body that is 111 mm wider than the standard A6 Avant.
-
Ground Clearance: Ride height sees a base increase of 34 mm.
-
Adaptive Air Suspension: Equipped as standard, the air suspension can dynamically raise the car by an additional 15 mm when off-road modes are activated, adapting smoothly to rougher terrain.
-
Rear-Wheel Steering: Standard equipment allows the rear wheels to turn up to 5 degrees. This decreases the turning radius for tight city maneuvers and improves high-speed lane-changing stability.
2. Power Options: Introduction of the PHEV
For the first time in the nameplate’s history, Audi is offering a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain configuration alongside traditional, mile-munching diesel options.
| Attribute | 2.0L TFSIe (Plug-in Hybrid) | 3.0L V6 TDI (Mild-Hybrid Diesel) |
| Engine Type | Inline-4 turbo + Electric Motor | V6 Turbo-Diesel |
| Combined Power | 367 hp | 299 hp |

3. High-Tech Cockpit
Inside, the Allroad adopts Audi’s latest premium architectural philosophy, shifting heavily toward high-definition digital interfaces.
The dashboard layout features a curved housing holding an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit driver display alongside a massive 14.5-inch main infotainment touchscreen. Front passengers can also get their own dedicated 10.9-inch display panel with privacy shielding, ensuring the driver doesn’t get distracted.
Plush optional additions like multi-mode massage seats, a 4-zone climate control setup, and a bespoke Bang & Olufsen high-fidelity audio system round out its luxury cruiser credentials.
