A shooting at the annual Bite of Seattle food festival near the iconic Space Needle left at least three people dead and four others injured.
The Seattle Mayor’s Office confirmed that police have taken one suspect into custody. Investigators believe the incident involved an exchange of gunfire between two individuals, as two firearms were recovered at the scene. Authorities indicated that a second suspect remains at large.
The gunfire broke out around 6:00 PM at the Seattle Center, a popular venue hosting hundreds of local vendors and live music performances for the three-day community event. Emergency responders transported the injured victims to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
Eyewitnesses described intense chaos as festivalgoers panicked following seven to eight gunshots inside the crowded space, leading to a stampede as people rushed to flee. The Seattle Police Department advised the public to avoid the area while the investigation remains active.
