Earlier this year, Adnan Sami sparked a political storm after attending the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) centenary celebrations in Mumbai.
-
The Action: Sami shared a meal with RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, posted photographs online, and publicly praised Bhagwat as an “incredible gentleman” who cleared up “myths and misconceptions.”
-
The Backlash: The post drew immediate criticism from political groups like the Maharashtra Congress. Detractors quickly brought up Sami’s Pakistani roots and family history to attack the interaction. Sami responded on social media by telling critics to “move on.”
“I Don’t Care Anymore”: Sami’s Response to the Noise
Speaking to NDTV, Sami made it clear that being dragged into political headlines no longer affects his peace of mind.
1. Developing a Thick Skin
Sami admitted that public criticism used to bother him in the past, but he has grown past it.
“It used to bother me once upon a time, but I don’t care about it anymore… To each his own. If they want to say something, they will say it, you can’t stop them.”
2. Confidence in His Identity
He attributes his new indifference to a stronger sense of self, noting that he is confident enough in his own identity and convictions that the external political noise doesn’t change who he is.
3. Staying Silent on Social Media
Sami emphasized that he actively avoids jumping into political debates or rushing to post opinions online. He stated that he only speaks up if he feels “really, really strongly” about an issue, which he notes is quite rare these days.
