Royal Enfield has crossed a major operational milestone, breaching the 1-lakh unit sales mark in May 2026. The iconic mid-size motorcycle manufacturer posted a 15% Year-on-Year (YoY) total volume expansion, driven by a powerful performance in the Indian domestic market that effectively offset a sharp contraction in overseas shipments.
Domestic Boom Counteracts Export Slowdown
Royal Enfield delivered a total of 1,03,231 motorcycles in May 2026, up from 89,429 units during the same period last year. However, a closer look at the data reveals divergent paths for its domestic and international businesses:
-
Domestic Surge: Indian demand skyrocketed by 24%, with domestic despatches jumping to 94,115 units compared to 75,820 units in May 2025.
-
Export Slump: International markets faced significant headwinds, suffering a 33% decline with shipments sliding from 13,609 units down to 9,116 units.

Expanding the Portfolio: The Bullet 650
A major driver of the brand’s excitement this month was the highly anticipated launch of the Royal Enfield Bullet 650. Introduced simultaneously in India, the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), and ANZ (Australia and New Zealand) regions, the motorcycle brings the legendary Bullet styling into the modern parallel-twin lineup.
The Bullet 650 retains its signature continuous-production heritage but inherits the robust 647.95cc parallel-twin engine platform, which generates 52.3 Nm of torque and sports the recognizable gleaming chrome peashooter exhausts.
Strategic Future: ₹2,500 Crore Greenfield Factory
To anchor its long-term growth and handle subsequent product expansions, Royal Enfield also finalized plans for a brand-new production hub.
Andhra Pradesh Expansion: The brand will acquire a land parcel in Tada, Andhra Pradesh, for a new greenfield manufacturing facility. Royal Enfield has earmarked an approximate investment of ₹2,500 crore, which will be deployed in a phased manner calibrated to market demand.
B. Govindarajan, CEO of Royal Enfield, stated that the company is successfully carrying its momentum into the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 despite prevailing macroeconomic challenges, supported by deep community engagement initiatives like the historic Himalayan Odyssey and the ongoing Continental GT Cup.
