Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has shattered production records, announcing a historic annual output of 2.34 million (23.4 lakh) units for the fiscal year 2025-26. This achievement solidifies MSIL’s position as the only passenger vehicle manufacturer in India to reach such a volume and marks it as the highest-producing entity within Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global network.
Key Production Drivers
The record-breaking year was fueled by the massive popularity of five specific models, each surpassing the 200,000-unit production mark:
-
Dzire
-
Fronx
-
Swift
-
Ertiga
-
Baleno
Strategic Growth and Global Impact
Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi credited this success to a “carefully nurtured automobile ecosystem” built over 45 years. He highlighted several factors contributing to this landmark:
-
Synergy: Strong collaboration between employees, vendors, and dealer partners.
-
Policy Support: A favorable domestic environment, specifically the rollout of GST 2.0, which boosted market confidence.
-
Export Hub: Suzuki’s commitment to positioning India as a primary export hub for global markets.
The Road to 4 Million: Capacity Expansion
With 17 models and over 650 variants currently in production, MSIL is not slowing down. The company has set an ambitious long-term goal to reach a capacity of 4 million units per annum.
Current Manufacturing Footprint: The company presently operates four major facilities with a combined capacity of 2.4 million units:
-
Gurugram, Haryana
-
Manesar, Haryana
-
Kharkhoda, Haryana
-
Hansalpur, Gujarat
Future Expansion: In March 2026, MSIL secured land for its fifth manufacturing facility at the Khoraj Industrial Estate in Sanand, Gujarat. Once this site is fully operational, it is expected to add another 1 million units to the company’s annual production capacity.
