Maruti Suzuki India has announced a price hike of up to Rs 20,000 on select models, marking its third price revision since May. The automaker attributes the adjustment to escalating input costs, persistent inflation, and a challenging cost environment, despite internal cost-reduction efforts.
Key Highlights
-
Price Increase: Up to Rs 20,000 on select passenger vehicles.
-
Timing: Implemented for September, ahead of the high-demand festive season.
-
Previous Hikes: Follows earlier price increases of up to Rs 30,000 in both June and August.
-
Affected Models: Encompasses popular entries across the portfolio, including the Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Baleno, Fronx, Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Jimny, Invicto, and Victoris.
The move comes on the heels of the company launching the 2026 Baleno facelift, which features a starting price of Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom). While retail demand remained robust through August, automakers continue to recalibrate pricing strategies to safeguard profit margins amidst rising operational expenditures.
