Kia has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio in India with the introduction of the Syros EV, a new compact electric SUV designed for urban buyers seeking premium features and practical range. Expected to start around Rs 15 lakh, the Syros EV is positioned to compete directly with established players like the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
Built on the multi-energy K1 platform shared with its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, the Syros EV is spread across seven distinct variants across two battery pack options.
Battery, Range, and Performance
The Syros EV offers two battery configurations, both driving a front-mounted electric motor:
-
Standard Range (42 kWh): Generates 135 hp and 255 Nm of torque, delivering a certified range of 443 km.
-
Extended Range (51.4 kWh): Upgrades performance to 171 hp and 255 Nm of torque, boasting a certified range of 526 km and a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 8.1 seconds.
Charging Times
Equipped with up to 100 kW DC fast-charging capabilities, all variants can juice up from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 39 minutes. On a standard 11 kW AC charger, the 42 kWh battery takes 4 hours for a 10–80 percent charge, while the larger 51.4 kWh battery requires 4 hours and 50 minutes.
