Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar stated that India’s electoral framework ranks among the most transparent globally, highlighting continuous verification protocols implemented across every stage of the voting cycle.

Continuous Verification: Speaking at an interaction with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in Ahmedabad, the CEC emphasized that political parties, candidates, and their authorized agents participate in verification from initial electoral roll management to final vote counting.

Electoral Roll Integrity: BLOs track vital categories—such as absent, shifted, deceased, duplicate, or foreign entries (ASDDF)—while actively working to ensure all eligible citizens turning 18 are successfully registered.

Polling and Counting Transparency: Prior to voting, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and VVPATs undergo mock polls in the presence of candidate agents. Post-voting results and counting procedures are likewise cross-verified against Form 17C documents with candidates’ representatives present.

Digital Initiatives: Kumar urged youth and stakeholders to utilize the ‘ECINET’ app and engage with Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) in schools and colleges to foster democratic awareness and streamline voter registration.
Noting that India currently holds the chairmanship of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), the CEC underlined that global recognition reflects the robustness, freedom, and fairness of the nation’s democratic system.
