On the first anniversary of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a stern message of national resilience, asserting that India will remain undeterred by acts of violence. The PM paid tribute to the victims, emphasizing that the country stands united against “heinous designs” of terrorism.
Remembering the Tragedy
The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, remains one of the most somber recent events in Jammu and Kashmir:
-
Perpetrators: The attack was carried out by the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
-
Casualties: 26 innocent lives were lost, the majority of whom were tourists visiting the region from various parts of India.
-
The PM’s Message: In a post on X, PM Modi stated, “Remembering the innocent lives lost… They will never be forgotten. India will never bow to any form of terror.”
The National Response: Operation Sindoor
The Prime Minister’s remarks come in the wake of India’s significant military response following last year’s incident.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory offensive aimed at dismantling the sources of the violence. The operation successfully targeted and destroyed key military and terror-related infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
A Vow of Resolve
The Prime Minister expressed his solidarity with the families of the victims, noting that while the nation grieves, its resolve has only strengthened. The government’s stance remains clear: any attempt to disturb the peace of the nation will be met with a firm and decisive response.
