NEW DELHI – In a significant boost to its safety credentials, Hyundai Motor India announced on Monday that the all-new VENUE and VENUE N Line have achieved a prestigious 5-star safety rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP).
The certificates were presented by Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari to Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India. This achievement marks the VENUE as one of the safest compact SUVs in the Indian market under the country’s own voluntary safety testing protocol.
Crash Test Performance
The VENUE and its performance-oriented sibling, the VENUE N Line, underwent rigorous testing across various parameters. The results highlighted exceptional structural integrity and occupant protection.
-
Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 31.15 / 32 points
-
Child Occupant Protection (COP): 44.46 / 49 points
The AOP score is notably one of the highest in its segment. In frontal impact tests, the SUV provided “good” protection for the head and neck of both the driver and passenger. The side movable barrier test resulted in a perfect 16 out of 16 score, demonstrating the effectiveness of the vehicle’s side-impact protection.
Safety Tech and Structural Build
Both models are built on Hyundai’s Global K1 platform, utilizing a high-strength steel structure designed to absorb and dissipate energy during a collision.
-
Reinforced Chassis: Approximately 71% of the body uses ultra-high-strength and advanced high-strength steel.
-
Standard Safety Suite: 33 of the 65+ total safety features are standard across all variants, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-start Assist.
-
Advanced Assistance: The higher trims feature Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS, offering 21 autonomous features such as Forward Collision Warning and Lane Keeping Assist.
A Safer Year for Indian Roads
The VENUE’s 5-star rating follows similar top scores for other new-gen vehicles in 2026, including the Kia Seltos and the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari lauded the achievement, stating that such ratings reflect the industry’s commitment to evolving safety standards that align with Indian road conditions.
Since its latest generation launched in late 2025, the VENUE has already crossed 100,000 bookings, and this safety milestone is expected to further drive its popularity among security-conscious buyers.
