Television actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee has hit back at actor Rohit Roy for his controversial remarks labeling television a “dustbin medium” and claiming film stars possess a “style and class” lacking in TV actors.
Devoleena’s Response In an interview with IANS, Devoleena criticized Roy for biting the hand that fed him, pointing out that television is the very industry that gave him a career. She remarked that his “biggest identity” to most people is simply being actor Ronit Roy’s brother, noting that she can barely recall any of Rohit’s individual TV projects.
Calling Out Double Standards Devoleena also argued that Roy’s comments indirectly disrespect major Bollywood stars who frequently use television to host reality shows and promote films. Highlighting her own deep gratitude for the medium—which she rose to fame on through Saath Nibhaana Saathiya as Gopi Bahu—she dismissed Roy’s remarks as a desperate attempt to grab attention by demeaning the platform that made him.
