In the wake of the tragic building collapse in South Delhi’s Satya Niketan that claimed seven lives, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has formally initiated the process to set up a dedicated State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for the national capital.
Previously, Delhi relied exclusively on the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Delhi Fire Services, and local law enforcement for specialized rescue operations during major emergencies. The new state-level force aims to minimize response times, streamline multi-agency coordination, and build local resilience.
