PM Modi Addresses Booth Workers in Assam, Highlights Decade of Peace

GUWAHATI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed BJP booth-level workers in poll-bound Assam on Monday as part of the ‘Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot Samvaad’ initiative. Speaking via the NaMo App, the Prime Minister emphasized the transformation of Assam from a state once “burning in violence” to one defined by “new confidence” and stability.

With the 126-member Assam Assembly set to go to the polls in a single phase on April 9, 2026, the Prime Minister’s address served as a strategic rallying cry for party activists.

A Decade of Stability

The Prime Minister underscored that the “double-engine” government has prioritized peace as the foundation for development. Key highlights from his address included:

• Twelve Peace Agreements: Modi noted that the government has successfully signed a dozen peace accords with various organizations in the Northeast over the past decade.

• Critique of the Opposition: He cautioned workers to remind first-time voters of the “misrule” under previous Congress governments, alleging that past agreements were often made “only on paper” to create headlines while leaving the youth to drift toward unrest.

• Bodo Cause: The PM specifically mentioned the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord as a landmark achievement that brought insurgents into the mainstream and secured the future of the region’s youth.

The “Hat-Trick” Ambition

Expressing confidence in a third consecutive term for the BJP-led NDA in Assam, the Prime Minister described himself as a fellow karyakarta (worker) dedicated to his duties. He urged the booth workers to:

• Engage First-Time Voters: Focus on educating young electors about the state’s progress since 2016.

• Beware of Misinformation: Specifically cautioned against the circulation of AI-generated videos designed to mislead the public during the election cycle.

Political Outlook: NDA Targets 90+ Seats

The Prime Minister’s interaction follows recent statements by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who predicted that the NDA would secure more than 90 seats in the upcoming elections.
