Investigation into the near-fatal attack on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff on Saturday night has revealed that one of the primary suspects worked as a Rapido bike-taxi driver to survey the actor’s home prior to the shooting.
The actor narrowly escaped unhurt after a gunman’s firearm jammed, though his driver and a bystander sustained injuries in the attack.
Key Details & Suspects Arrested
In a coordinated operation, the Mumbai Police traced and arrested three suspects in Rajasthan’s Kota as they boarded a train bound for Delhi, allegedly planning an escape route to Nepal:
-
Rehan alias Sukka (18): Resident of Sonipat, Haryana; reported to be in contact with a US-based gangster linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
-
Hrithik Kurmi alias Roshan Fighter (22): Resident of Begusarai, Bihar; worked as a Rapido driver to carry out reconnaissance around Shroff’s residence.
-
Phool Singh (18): Resident of Kota, Rajasthan.
How the Attack Unfolded
According to CCTV footage and police statements, two of the attackers fired five to six rounds indiscriminately at the front side of Tiger Shroff’s vehicle. One attacker pointed his gun directly at the seat occupied by the actor, but the weapon jammed.
Immediately following the shooting, Shroff swapped places with his injured driver and drove him to the hospital for emergency care.
How Police Nabbed the Accused Within 24 Hours
Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roushan detailed the swift police response:
-
Over 20 special Crime Branch teams were deployed immediately.
-
CCTV and technical analysis tracked the suspects’ getaway bike to Andheri West Railway Station.
-
Further surveillance revealed the trio traveled toward northern Mumbai, crossed into Surat, and boarded the Pune-Jaipur Express.
-
Mumbai Police alerted the Kota Police, who intercepted the train and took all three suspects into custody.
Authorities confirmed that none of the accused are minors and noted that the actor had not previously received threat calls. Gangster Anil Pandit, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi network, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Rapido’s Response
Following media reports regarding the suspect’s affiliation with the bike-taxi platform, Rapido issued an official statement clarifying his active status:
“We are deeply concerned by the incident involving Mr. Tiger Shroff and his team, and we are relieved that he is safe… The individual registered as a captain on the Rapido platform has not been active since October 14th. On the day of the incident, he had used Rapido’s services strictly as a customer.”
The company added that it maintains zero tolerance for violence or criminal activity and is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies by sharing requested data.
