Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has broken his silence regarding the intense speculation surrounding the budget and production timelines of Krrish 4. Dismissing viral reports that claimed a massive financial tug-of-war was delaying the superhero project, the veteran director labeled the rumors as absolute “nonsense.”
Reports had been circulating that the highly anticipated sequel was deadlocked because Hrithik Roshan allegedly demanded a massive ₹500 crore budget to secure top-tier VFX and world-class action sequences, while co-producers Yash Raj Films (YRF) wanted to cap production costs at ₹350 crore.
Clarifying the Production Status
Speaking to Mid-Day, Rakesh Roshan firmly denied any rift between the stakeholders or financial disputes regarding the film’s vision.
“It’s all nonsense that Hrithik has asked for a ₹500 crore budget for top-tier VFX and world-class action for his directorial debut, while YRF wants to cap costs at ₹350 crore,” the filmmaker clarified. “Making a good film catering to a wide audience takes time. Even I have taken time for each of my Krrish offerings.”
He further reassured fans that the collaboration behind the scenes is moving ahead seamlessly:
-
Unified Front: Roshan emphasized that there are zero internal conflicts, stating, “There are no issues; all is smooth. It’s teamwork between Adi [Aditya Chopra], Hrithik, and me.”
-
The Reason for Delays: Addressing why the film hasn’t gone on floors yet, he jokingly pointed to his son’s packed professional plate, including the star’s recently launched independent production house. “Krrish [Hrithik] is on another planet, and we are all waiting for his dates.”
A Major Milestone: Hrithik’s Directorial Debut
The fourth installment is shaping up to be a historic milestone for the franchise. Last year, Rakesh Roshan announced that Krrish 4 will officially serve as Hrithik’s directorial debut—marking a poetic 25-year evolution from when he first made his acting debut.
| Milestone Year | The Roshan Father-Son Legacy |
| 2000 | Rakesh Roshan launches Hrithik Roshan as an actor in the blockbuster Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. |
| 2025 | Exactly 25 years later, Rakesh Roshan and Aditya Chopra announce they are launching Hrithik as a director for Krrish 4. |
| 2027 | Anticipated theatrical release window for the high-octane superhero film. |
With the script being meticulously polished under the combined guidance of two of Bollywood’s biggest filmmaking minds, the team is heavily focused on structural quality rather than racing against the clock. Audiences can comfortably look forward to seeing India’s premier superhero return to the silver screen around 2027.
