Tata Motors has officially launched the heavily updated 2026 Tiago and Tiago EV in India. Aimed squarely at taking on rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, this mid-life overhaul brings premium tech additions, a sharper look, and an expanded feature list to Tata’s entry-level hatchback line-up.
The standard petrol version comes at an introductory starting price of Rs 4.69 lakh, the iCNG starts at Rs 5.79 lakh, and the all-electric Tiago EV enters at Rs 6.99 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
Variant Wise Pricing Structure (Ex-Showroom)
The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) versions are spread across multiple distinct equipment tiers:
| Variant | Petrol Manual (MT) | iCNG Manual (MT) |
| Smart | Rs 4.69 Lakh | Rs 5.79 Lakh |
| Pure | Rs 5.49 Lakh | Rs 6.49 Lakh |
| Pure+ | Rs 5.99 Lakh | Rs 6.99 Lakh |

The BaaS Alternative: Tata is also offering the Tiago EV with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership program. This drops the upfront vehicle acquisition cost of the EV variant to Rs 4.69 lakh, paired with a battery rental usage fee of Rs 2.6 per km.
Exterior Design Overhaul: Sharper and More Modern
The 2026 facelift fundamentally alters the car’s visual stance:
-
The Front Fascia: Features a revised, sharper bumper housing a prominent black panel in the center. The sleeker headlight enclosures integrate new LED headlamps paired with distinctive eyebrow-style daytime running lights (DRLs). On the Tiago EV, the center grille area swaps out the black panel for a clean, body-colored trim piece.
-
The Silhouette & Wheels: The side profile retains its signature footprint, but gets freshly designed alloy wheels. The EV variant features aerodynamically optimized alloy wheel patterns alongside unique EV-specific badges.
-
The Rear End: Receives a completely reworked, interconnected-style LED taillight look detailed with sharp vertical internal lines, alongside an updated bumper layout with vertical reflectors.
-
Fresh Palette: New color options include Varanasi Vibrance, Sobo Surge, Pangong Pulse, Pristine White, Pure Grey, and Daytona Grey. The Tiago EV exclusively offers an extra Dehradun Dew shade.
Interior Cabin Transformation & Premium Features
Inside, Tata has thoroughly modernized the dashboard ergonomics. While maintaining a clean black-and-light-grey color tone, the dashboard adopts a strictly upright configuration.
A new floating 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen commands the center stage, while the driver gets a separate, crisp standalone digital display. The driver interface is rounded out by a updated 2-spoke steering wheel featuring a centrally illuminated Tata logo.
The feature list takes a massive leap upmarket for this price class, adding:
-
A 360-degree camera system and integrated blind-spot monitor.
-
Conveniences like a dual wireless phone charger, cruise control, rear AC vents, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.
-
Safety Net: Six airbags come standard across the line-up, alongside Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and hill-hold control. Built upon an improved chassis architecture, the hatchback secures a solid 4-star GNCAP safety rating.
Powertrains, Transmissions, and EV Range
The 2026 line-up offers highly versatile powertrain choices to fit different driving needs:
┌── 1.2L Petrol (86 hp / 113 Nm) ──> 5-speed MT / 5-speed AMT
│
2026 Tiago Tiers ─┼── 1.2L iCNG (75 hp / 96 Nm) ───> 5-speed MT / Segment-First AMT
│
└── Tiago EV (19.2 kWh or 24 kWh) ──> 205-215 km Real Range (285 km MIDC)
The combustion options run on a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine. In petrol guise, it delivers 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque, while the dual-cylinder iCNG drop drops output slightly to 75 hp and 96 Nm. Both are available with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT—making this the first vehicle in its segment to offer an automatic gearbox option with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
For the electric variants, buyers can pick between 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery packs. While the theoretical MIDC cycle clocks in at 285 km, Tata claims a realistic, usable real-world driving range of 205 km to 215 km on a full charge. Utilizing 30 kW DC fast charging infrastructure can replenish 100 km of driving range in just 18 minutes.
