Hyundai is gearing up to refresh its flagship electric SUV in India. With camouflaged prototypes already spotted on local roads, the facelifted Ioniq 5 is expected to officially debut on June 5, 2026. This update brings the Indian model in line with the global version, offering better range, a more practical interior, and refined aesthetics.
1. More Miles: The New 84 kWh Battery
The most significant upgrade is under the floor. Hyundai is expected to swap the current 72.6 kWh battery for a larger 84 kWh unit.
-
Estimated Range: Up to 570 km on a single charge (an increase from the current 451 km).
-
Performance: The RWD motor will likely continue to produce 215 bhp and 350 Nm, hitting 0–100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
-
Charging: Ultra-fast 350 kW DC charging remains, capable of a 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes.
2. Exterior: Sharper and More Practical
While the retro-futuristic “pixel” design stays, several functional tweaks have been added:
-
Rear Wiper: Finally addressing a major user request, a rear wiper is now included.
-
Sportier Stance: A new front and rear bumper design, a 50 mm wider roof spoiler, and fresh alloy wheel designs.
-
Increased Length: Due to the bumper redesign, the car is now 20 mm longer.
3. Interior: Ergonomics First
The cabin moves away from a “touch-only” approach to a more tactile, user-friendly layout:
-
Physical Buttons: The center console now features physical buttons for frequently used functions like seat heating, ventilation, and parking assist.
-
Redesigned Console: The wireless charging pad has been moved to a more accessible spot, accompanied by a new cup holder layout.
-
Interactive Steering: A new three-spoke steering wheel features “pixel lights” that communicate vehicle status.
4. Safety and Comfort Improvements
-
Structural Reinforcement: Enhanced B-pillars and reinforced doors for better side-impact protection.
-
Better NVH: Upgraded dampers and more insulation to reduce road noise and steering wheel vibrations.
-
Next-Gen ADAS: An updated suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems with refined detection and intervention capabilities.
