Royal Enfield is officially expanding its 450cc liquid-cooled lineup. Following the success of the Himalayan 450 and the Guerrilla 450 roadster, the brand is reportedly developing the Scram 450. This new scrambler is set to bridge the gap between rugged off-roading and urban agility, directly taking on the Triumph Scrambler 400.
Engine & Performance
The Scram 450 will be powered by the highly acclaimed 452cc “Sherpa” engine. This single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit has already proven its mettle in the Himalayan.
-
Power: Expected output of 40 hp.
-
Torque: Peak torque of 40 Nm.
-
Transmission: A 6-speed gearbox equipped with a slip and assist clutch.
-
Chassis: While it shares the engine, the frame is expected to be revised to better suit the upright, “scrambler” riding posture.
Design & Ergonomics
The motorcycle is expected to lean into the classic-meets-modern aesthetic.
-
Familiar Features: You’ll likely see the signature circular LED headlamp, a slim tail section, and a fuel tank inspired by the Guerrilla 450.
-
Rider Triangle: Expect slightly raised handlebars and center-set footpegs for a commanding, upright seating position—similar to the recently launched Bear 650.
-
Suspension: Reports suggest it will feature USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. However, the suspension travel will likely be shorter than the Himalayan’s to keep the seat height accessible.
Smart Features
Royal Enfield isn’t skimping on tech for this mid-capacity scrambler:
-
TFT Display: The circular color TFT dash with smartphone connectivity and Google Maps navigation.
-
Ride Modes: Multiple riding modes to toggle between city commuting and spirited trail riding.
-
Switchable ABS: Likely to include the option to turn off rear ABS for dirt-sliding fun.
Market Positioning & Price
The Scram 450 is positioned as a more versatile, daily-driver alternative to the purpose-built Himalayan.
| Competitor | Estimated Launch | Expected Price (Ex-showroom) |
| Royal Enfield Scram 450 | 2027 | ₹2.5 Lakh – ₹3.0 Lakh |
| Triumph Scrambler 400X | Available Now | ₹2.64 Lakh |
With the Yezdi Scrambler also receiving a 2026 update, the sub-500cc scrambler segment is becoming one of the most competitive spaces in the Indian motorcycling landscape.
