An old interview featuring Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, has resurfaced online, drawing significant attention following recent developments in their personal lives. In the clip, Govinda reflects on his mother’s deep affection for Sunita and reveals the strong warning she gave him regarding their relationship.
According to Govinda, his mother held Sunita in high regard and considered her the good luck of their home. “Unhone mujhe bola ki agar tune isse dhokha diya toh tu bheekh mangega (She told me that if I ever betrayed Sunita, I would end up begging),” Govinda recalled. He added, “My mom used to call her the Laxmi of our house, and it is true as well because since the day she entered my house and my life, we have never looked back.”
The throwback clip has gained fresh traction shortly after Sunita Ahuja withdrew a divorce case against the actor. Divorce rumors had been circulating since last February, intensifying after Sunita shared details about their marriage in recent interviews.
Addressing the withdrawal, Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, expressed disappointment over the public exposure of their private life. Speaking to NDTV, Sinha noted that family matters should be handled privately without reaching the courts or becoming a public spectacle. He added that Govinda had no immediate reaction to the latest development, concluding with a wish for wisdom and good sense for the entire family.
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja married in March 1987, keeping their union private until after the birth of their daughter, Tina, in 1988. They also share a son, Yashvardhan, born in 1997.
