Kawasaki has officially launched its updated 2027 KLX230 dual-sport and off-road motorcycle lineup in India. The revised range brings a notable price increase alongside a crucial new variant tailored to improve rider accessibility. The collection now consists of three distinct models: the standard dual-sport KLX230, the low-seat KLX230 S, and the track-only KLX230R S.
The New Low-Seat KLX230 S Variant
The most significant update for the 2027 model year is the debut of the KLX230 S. While it shares the exact same chassis and engine configuration as the standard version, it is specifically configured to welcome shorter riders who might find traditional dual-sport bikes intimidating.
-
Lower Seat Profile: The saddle height drops down to 830 mm, a substantial reduction compared to the tall 880 mm seat found on the standard KLX230.
-
The Trade-Off: To lower the stance, Kawasaki shortened the suspension travel. The KLX230 S delivers 160 mm of front and 163 mm of rear travel (vs. 220 mm front / 223 mm rear on the standard model). Ground clearance also scales down to 220 mm from the original 255 mm.
Variant Specifications & Lineup Comparison
All three trims are propelled by a shared 233 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine paired with a smooth-shifting 6-speed gearbox. It pushes out 19 Hp of power and 19 Nm of peak torque.
| Model Variant | Purpose | Seat Height | Ground Clearance | Price (Ex-Showroom) |
| KLX230R S | Pure Off-Road (Non-Road Legal) | 900 mm | 270 mm | ₹1.89 Lakh |
| KLX230 S | Dual-Sport (Low Seat Height) | 830 mm | 220 mm | ₹2.19 Lakh |
| KLX230 | Dual-Sport (Standard Format) | 880 mm | 255 mm | ₹2.19 Lakh |
Note on the KLX230R S: This specialized version lacks legal road-going equipment like headlights, turn signals, and mirrors. It is built strictly for closed-course trails and dirt competition, featuring maximum ground clearance and a tall 900 mm stance.

Kawasaki is staggering the delivery schedule for the new lineup into the monsoon and autumn seasons:
