Exhibiting the massive pull of the ‘Rally Sport’ (RS) moniker among Indian auto enthusiasts, Skoda Auto India has announced that the first batch of the highly anticipated Kodiaq RS completely sold out within six minutes of bookings opening.
This performance-oriented iteration is being brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) import. The initial allocation was strictly capped at just 50 units, requiring a booking amount of ₹3,00,000. Remarkably, the allocation vanished even though official pricing has not been disclosed, with industry expectations placing it around the ₹60 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
Track-Bred Performance and Dynamics
The Kodiaq RS claims the title of the fastest and most powerful Kodiaq to arrive on Indian shores, sharing its heart with iconic stablemates like the Octavia RS and Golf GTI:
-
The Engine: Powered by a heavily upgraded 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI engine pushing out 265 hp and 400 Nm of torque—an increase of roughly 60 hp over the standard model.
-
Transmission & Drivetrain: Power is managed via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DSG) that distributes power across a permanent all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
-
The Sprints: Skoda claims a blistering 0–100 kmph acceleration time of 6.3 seconds with a top speed capped at 231 kmph.
-
Chassis Management: It features Dynamic Chassis Control Plus (DCC Plus), an adaptive suspension system that gives drivers a 15-level damping adjustment to alternate between daily ride comfort and aggressive, high-speed stability.
Aggressive RS Design Cues
To separate the RS from the standard three-row family SUV, Skoda has added distinct, aggressive track styling. Offered in four monotone colors—Moon White, Steel Grey, Velvet Red, and Magic Black—the exterior boasts:
Gloss-black finishes extend to the roof rails, side view mirrors, window frames, and the rear roof spoiler, giving the SUV a dark, menacing posture.
Sport-Themed Premium Cabin
The performance aesthetic flows heavily into the interior, which features a practical seven-seater layout cloaked in an all-black theme accented by bold red contrast stitching.
-
Tech Layout: Up front sits a prominent 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment hub supporting wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto alongside a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.
-
Luxury Comforts: Front passengers get bolstered sports seats with integrated headrests featuring heating, ventilation, memory, and massage functions. A panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, dual wireless charging pads, and a premium 13-speaker Canton sound system are standard.
-
Comprehensive Safety: Peace of mind is anchored by nine airbags, an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, a 360-degree camera system, and upgraded high-performance braking hardware featuring slotted discs and two-piston front calipers.
