In a significant legal development, a Bihar court on Saturday granted interim relief to prominent educator Faisal Khan, widely known as ‘Khan Sir,’ during a hearing on his anticipatory bail plea.
The court upheld a “no coercive action” order, explicitly directing the Patna Police to refrain from taking any harsh measures or arresting him until the next scheduled hearing.
The Root of the Dispute: June 2 Incident
The case stems from a violent clash that occurred outside the Khan Global Studies Institute in Patna on the night of June 2, at approximately 10:10 PM.
-
The Attack: A group of unidentified individuals allegedly targeted the coaching center, engaging in heavy stone-pelting and acts of vandalism.
-
The Escalation: Days after the attack, Patna Police registered an First Information Report (FIR)—Case No. 410/26—against Faisal Khan and two others.
Why Was Khan Sir Named in the FIR?
The investigation took a sharp turn after police recovered video footage from the night of the clash. The video showed two individuals engaging in aerial firing in response to the vandalism.
Upon verifying the footage, the police identified and detained two private security guards associated with the institute. After assessing the sequence of events and recovering the weapons used, authorities named Khan Sir and two others in the FIR, invoking sections related to criminal abetment and the Arms Act.
Police Warn Against “Coaching Center Wars”
Following the incident, the Office of the City Superintendent of Police (Central), Patna, issued a direct appeal to the student community, hinting at deeper underlying tensions within the local education sector.
Official Statement: “All students are requested not to be misled by anyone amidst coaching center competitions. No compromise will be made regarding crime control and the maintenance of law and order.”
The police have urged students to remain focused on their studies and avoid getting entangled in professional rivalries or commercial disputes between competing coaching institutes. For now, the court’s interim order ensures Khan Sir will not face arrest while the investigation proceeds.
