The upcoming investigative thriller series Raakh, starring Ali Fazal and Sonali Bendre, officially has a streaming date. The highly anticipated show is set to premiere globally on Prime Video on June 12.

The Plot: A Visceral Descent into Human Depravity
Raakh is framed as a dark psychological study of the criminal mind, shifting away from standard procedural tropes to focus on trauma and moral ambiguity.
The official synopsis sets a grim stage for the narrative:
-
The Catalyst: The sudden, traceless disappearance of two teenagers shatters a tight-knit family and throws an entire city into a state of panic.
-
The Chase: A relentless investigating officer launches a massive nationwide manhunt to track down the missing teens.
-
The Twist: As the investigation deepens, the officer is dragged into a deeply disturbing world of violence and psychological darkness that lurks right beneath the surface of everyday life.
Director’s Vision: Beyond a Standard Crime Thriller
Speaking about the creative journey behind the series, director Prosit Roy emphasized that the show intends to explore the psychological aftermath of tragedy just as much as the crime itself.
“What excited me most about Raakh was the opportunity to merge the thrill of a gripping manhunt with an unflinching exploration of trauma and the darker impulses of human nature… Ali brings a quiet ferocity that anchors the entire narrative, while Sonali and Aamir inhabit their characters with an intensity that makes every moment feel real.” — Prosit Roy, Director & Executive Producer
Roy also credited creators Anusha and Sandeep for delivering a meticulously researched, intricately layered script that challenges the traditional black-and-white lens of crime dramas.
